🌀 Trick Room Teams in Pokémon Champions: Complete Guide
Everything you need to know about Trick Room in Pokémon Champions — setters, slow attackers, how many turns to expect, and how to beat Trick Room teams.
Trick Room is a powerful field condition that reverses the Speed order for 5 turns — the slowest Pokémon move first. This completely upends the typical advantage fast Pokémon have, letting bulky slow powerhouses act before fragile speedsters.
How Trick Room Works
Under Trick Room, Pokémon with lower base Speed move first. A Pokémon with 30 Speed will outpace one with 130 Speed. The effect lasts 5 turns (counting the turn it's set). Setting it again before it expires resets the counter to 5.
💡 Tip: EV Trick Room attackers often run 0 Speed IVs and negative Speed natures (Brave for physical, Quiet for special) to be as slow as possible and move first under TR.
Top Trick Room Setters
- Hatterene: Magic Bounce bounces back Taunt, Encore, and opposing status. Strong Special Attack means it threatens damage too. Standard set: Trick Room, Dazzling Gleam, Psychic, Protect.
- Slowbro: Bulky Water/Psychic with Regenerator. Hard to KO and can run Teleport to pivot into TR attackers safely.
- Porygon2: Trace ability can copy useful abilities, excellent special bulk. Pairs well with Eviolite.
Best Trick Room Attackers
The ideal TR attacker is extremely slow but extremely powerful. You want to move first under TR and KO things before TR expires.
- Snorlax: 35 base Speed, massive bulk, Unaware ignores opponent's boosts. Wave Crash hits incredibly hard.
- Torkoal: 20 base Speed, Drought sets sun, Eruption at full health is devastating
- Oranguru: Instruct lets another Pokémon use its move again immediately
- Incineroar: Not a dedicated TR attacker but low enough Speed to benefit, and Fake Out is still useful
Countering Trick Room
The best counters to Trick Room are prevention and disruption:
- Taunt: Prevents the setter from using Trick Room (doesn't work vs Hatterene's Magic Bounce)
- Fake Out + KO: Flinch the TR setter with Fake Out while your partner KOs it
- Imprison + Trick Room: A niche tech — use Imprison alongside your own Trick Room user to block opponents from setting TR
- Speed control of your own: Tailwind or Thunder Wave to manage the Speed order independently
