How Incineroar plays
Incineroar's value comes from compounding entry effects. Intimidate on entry plus Fake Out turn-one creates a two-action swing on the opening turn that no other Pokémon matches. Parting Shot cycles bring the same intimidate plus the offensive drop on subsequent entries, so Incineroar's value compounds across the four turns it appears in a typical match.
Movepool flexibility is the second axis. Knock Off removes opposing items at zero opportunity cost, Will-O-Wisp burns physical attackers without committing a slot to a dedicated status user, and Flare Blitz is a real damage threat against the bulky Steel-types that sit in its lane. Counter-Incineroar is one of the format's defining problems. Indeedee blocks Fake Out, Ghost types invalidate Fake Out entirely, and any defender with Inner Focus or Own Tempo is immune to the flinch.
